This time of year, with the hustle and bustle, the tree and presents and pies get all the attention. But we still find our hearts with those we love in the kitchen around food, right? What better way to enjoy and rejoice in each others company that around a beautiful Holiday Cheese Board?

If you believe in Santa Clause, then you should be able to believe that a beautiful board can actually be easy, and occasionally relaxing to build! I believe!!
Let's break it down into easy to follow steps:
Procure the cheese
Procure the accompaniments
Find boards and knives
Find a safe space away from pets, kids and opinionated people
Find a beverage of choice
Another tip, use some REALLY STINKY cheese, it tends to create a private space :)
Building the board:
Keep in mind, we eat with our eyes first!
I always start with placing the cheese. It is the largest space absorber and the most important item! Place them spaced apart like anchor stores in a mall, remember those? lol
Portion the cheese as it wants to be cut: cubed, sticks, wedges, crumbles...
Then the Charcuterie. It is the second largest space absorber. A salami river will give your board balance and direction. A salami rose gives your board an anchor and/or focal point.
Next, place things that need to go in bowls Like jams, mustards, chutneys, olives, honey.....
Then move on to the little guys. Nuts, olives(if they didn't go in bowls), cornichons, fresh and dried fruit, etc.
Carbs are last as they tend to take up a ton of space. If there is room, add them, otherwise there is nothing wrong with putting them in a basket on the side. Your GF friends will appreciate it anyway.
